FWIW, for just this particular task you can add the "Toggle HTML Display Mode" toolbar button (in German it's "HTML Anzeigemodus Umschalten"). I also found a similar feature at https://userbase.kde.org/Kmail/Using_Kmail_General (search for "HTML").
