Comment:
The polygon parameter has trouble handling large areas and never really
worked with multipolygons at all. Use one of the newer
[http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Nominatim#Parameters polygon_*
parameters] instead.
Fixed the 500 by disabling multipolygons completely.
