Anyone care to estimate the net atmospheric CO2 impact of bringing deep ocean water to the surface to perform OTEC and then discharging the water in the surface ocean? +/- renewable electricity benefits? Greg, OTE, as you know, has been around for a few decades. It appears to be coming to life again after the Lockheed OTEC sale to China. http://www.otecorporation.com/news_reader/items/ocean-thermal-energy-corporation-announces-7650000-equity-offering-under-the-new-jobs-act.html “In addition to its Energy Services Agreement to build, own and operate the world's largest deep ocean SDC system, OTE has concluded that other SDC and OTEC contracts are likely to follow in various locations such as the US Virgin Islands, the Caribbean, East Africa, the Pacific Rim and US Department of Defense bases, the latter of which are mandated to reach a 25% renewable energy goal by 2025. Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) have been signed for at least four projects.” “All projects will be funded with an equity component in the capital structure. The first project in The Bahamas will incorporate equity contributions from OTE, DCO Energy LLC, host country investors, preference capital, loan notes and senior debt. OTE expects that future projects will follow a similar capital structure, which aims to maximize the returns to investors for limited risk.” OTEC competitors see OTEC News at: http://www.otecnews.org/ * Bluerise<http://www.otecnews.org/entity/bluerise/> * DCNS<http://www.otecnews.org/entity/dcns/> * Delft University of Technology<http://www.otecnews.org/entity/delft-university-of-technology/> * Energy Island<http://www.otecnews.org/entity/energy-island/> * ITRI<http://www.otecnews.org/entity/itri/> * Kobe Steel<http://www.otecnews.org/entity/kobe-steel/> * Lockheed Martin<http://www.otecnews.org/entity/lockheed-martin/> * Makai Ocean Engineering<http://www.otecnews.org/entity/makai-ocean-engineering/> * NELHA<http://www.otecnews.org/entity/nelha/> * NIOT<http://www.otecnews.org/entity/niot/> * NOAA<http://www.otecnews.org/entity/noaa/> * Ocees<http://www.otecnews.org/entity/ocees/> * OTE Corporation<http://www.otecnews.org/entity/ote-corporation/> * OTEC International<http://www.otecnews.org/entity/otec-international/> * Saga university<http://www.otecnews.org/entity/saga-university/> * Sea Solar Power<http://www.otecnews.org/entity/sea-solar-power/> * Seawater Greenhouse<http://www.otecnews.org/entity/seawater-greenhouse/> * US Navy<http://www.otecnews.org/entity/us-navy/> * Xenesys<http://www.otecnews.org/entity/xenesys/> ________________________________ Bruce French Sr. Project Manager Environmental -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "geoengineering" group.
