In today's meeting I learned that our service provider definitions are not
quite clear (and did not match how I usually summarize the distinctions).

My personal take is:

- *core-contributors*: take on an ongoing responsibility (security
responsible disclosure response, releases, supported extension). Core
contributors are signed up to the devel and user lists (and responsible
disclosure list) and you can see their work week by week.

- *experienced providers*: contribute directly to project sustainability in
some form (perhaps implemented a GSIP or proposal on behalf of their
customer?). These folks work on geoserver when hired by their customers but
are not always active. If you do hire an experienced provider they already
have signed a contribution agreement and have experience writing a proposal
to affect the roadmap. Chances are experienced providers have products
based on GeoServer (and help test release candidates <-- wish ).

- *additional services*: provide some consulting, training or assistance on
geoserver use and integration to their customers. We are pretty sure these
organizations are still operational, but maybe not?
