Yeah, this is what started the conversation - my expectations for experienced providers differ from practice.
I tried to provide: - 4 criteria (do I have to list signed code contribution agreement, or is it covered by "demonstrate ability to contribute directly to the project?") - And then some examples of how criteria could be met. As an example Geocursos translates a lot of blog content (so a contribution to our wider community), not sure if a signed code contribution is on file (I think so once again to support translation), and appears to offer geoserver training and support. -- Jody Garnett On Sat, 13 Feb 2021 at 04:48, Andrea Aime <andrea.a...@geo-solutions.it> wrote: > Hi Jody, > quoting the experienced provider section from the proposal: > > * Demonstrate the ability to contribute directly to project > sustainability: GISP proposal, community module, code-sprint participation > * Signed code contribution agreement > * Work on geoserver when hired by customers but are not always active > * GeoServer is an important aspect of their business: established > customers using GeoServer, GeoServer based product or service > > In the same proposal, a bit above, you list the existing three companies, > however I think only one qualifies for _all_ the criterias above. > Unless you mean to require only one of the above to be among experienced > providers? > > Cheers > Andrea > > On Sat, Feb 13, 2021 at 1:24 AM Jody Garnett <jody.garn...@gmail.com> > wrote: > >> Here is a proposal: GSIP 199 Update commercial support categories >> <https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/wiki/GISP-199> >> -- >> Jody Garnett >> >> >> On Wed, 3 Feb 2021 at 03:05, Andrea Aime <andrea.a...@geo-solutions.it> >> wrote: >> >>> Hi Jody, >>> should we also require a minimum of user support activity, like either >>> user list of gis.stackexchange.com participation? >>> >>> Cheers >>> Andrea >>> >>> On Tue, Feb 2, 2021 at 7:59 PM Jody Garnett <jody.garn...@gmail.com> >>> wrote: >>> >>>> In today's meeting I learned that our service provider definitions are >>>> not quite clear (and did not match how I usually summarize the >>>> distinctions). >>>> >>>> My personal take is: >>>> >>>> - *core-contributors*: take on an ongoing responsibility (security >>>> responsible disclosure response, releases, supported extension).
