I will do a cookbook tutorial for Openlayers. I dont suppose OGC in their wisdom provided an easy way to detect whether native SRS is lat/long or not? If you are crafting a map with total knowledge of data sets involved, its not so bad. The moment you let users add a WMS/WFS layers, then you have to your code work with all possibilities.
