Look into geoserver/data/logs and check the startup logs in geoserver.log.
Can you paste the errors and stack traces you find there?
Mind, you will get a lot of unrelated information from previous runs, it's
probably a good idea to rename geoserver.log
into something else so that a fresh one is produced
