Hi,
we're using GeoServer 2.2 (Java 6) for a long time. We use it for WFS only and
mostly on PostGIS Database.
Our Client is Mapbender 2.7.

I plan to Upgrade to actual stable GeoServer 2.7 (Java 7).

When GeoServer 2.7 starts first time with the external data-directory from
GeoServer 2.2 it throws some exceptions.
>From "/data/workspaces/MyWorkspace/MyDataStore/MyLayer/" most of
>"MyDataStore"s disappear. Also "MyLayer"s depending on it are lost.
Only 1 data store survives, which has Shapefiles and not PostGIS as source.

Theres a lot of logging but mostly not usefull for a Non-Java-Programmer. Maybe
this helps:

<log>
WARN [org.geoserver] - Failed to load data store 'adressen'
com.thoughtworks.xstream.converters.ConversionException: null : null
---- Debugging information ----
cause-exception     :
org.jasypt.exceptions.EncryptionOperationNotPossibleException
cause-message       : null
</log>

It seems that from 2.2 to 2.7 the range is too wide.

Will it be usefull to upgrade whith a step between to get it compatible? Which
Version?
Can I prepare the XML-Files in "/data/workspaces/MyWorkspace/" to be
compatible? (For Example delete encrypted Password-Tag and set it new by gui?)

It seems to be easyer to confirurate all WFS new then to Upgrade step by step
for all (main?-)releases.

Best regards

Frank Jäger
