Hi, Do you get a response with a browser by using URL
http://194.71.226.143:8080/geoserver/wms?service=WMS&version=1.3.0&request=GetCapabilities If you do, might be an issue in MapInfo and you should contact the support at Pitney Bowes instead. You can collect more evidence by testing the WMS with open source GIS programs like QGIS and OpenJUMP. However, as far as I know Mapinfo usually deals fine with WMS. One wild guess: It may be that your MapInfo is configured to go through the proxy of the city of Göteborg, and perhaps proxy does not know your computer at 194.71.226.143:8080. In that case MapInfo would receive an error message from the proxy server, and because it is not the GetCapabilities the error message could be something like you saw. Disabling proxy should resolve that issue. -Jukka Rahkonen- Martin_GBG wrote: [Geoserver-users] Problem connecting to Geoserver We set up Geoserver on a Appache server and it seems to be working. Added a new Storage with my data, a shapefile. And Added a new layer from that storage. Tried both to create a new workspace and use an existing one (cites) to publish the layer. The layer seems to be published and I can go to "Preview layers" and look at my Layer from the "open layers link". Everything so far so good. BUT when I try to add the Layer in MapInfo (GIS software) as a WMS. Trying to connect with the Geoserver server I get an error message. https://goo.gl/photos/knkV654BTPSeRWGQA <https://goo.gl/photos/knkV654BTPSeRWGQA> Basicly it says: "XML DOM Document, Division's error: Invalid xml declaration. The server returned data that had neither the requested format or was a known service exception ?????????????.. ?????????????.. Error receiving WMS server functions" Anybody has a clue?
