Thanks Adrian - I just grabbed a copy of Bryce's document which I was
completely ignorant of.

It will probably turn out that my thoughts / needs will equate to a
cheap hack relative to the systematic framework set out in the
standard :)  But in the event that I what I write for my own use looks
like it could be more generally applicable I'll let you know.
