In the current swing module, RenderingExecutor is intended to work with just
one map pane and only manages a single background thread, rejecting any tasks
that are submitted while that thread is active.
In the new, more beautiful swing module, RenderingExecutor will be an interface
and implementations should be more flexible: allowing for multiple threads and,
optionally, more than one map pane.
