As far as I remember the issue is not not around JAI/ImageIO at all, but
around the following:
- make developers use OpenJDK _and_ Oracle JDK before commits
- have people spend time looking into OpenJDK specific problems
- missing a build bot using OpenJDK
In the end it's mostly resourcing, how do you make companies sponsoring the
developers work
also take on the OpenJDK maintenance overhead?
