Good Morning,

Two existing jira issues mention the class VectorToRasterProcess fails if
the passed attribute is a Double: https://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOT-3102
and https://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOT-3952. I just ran into this
problem. Some older posts on the mailing list discussed fixing this while
moving the rasterization functionality from process to coverage, but I don't
think that has happened. If I need to create a thumbnail some vector data,
should I be looking at VectorToRasterProcess? I'm reading a shapefile that
produces a feature type whose binding is a Double. I don't believe I can
change the binding type of an existing feature. So, is it reasonable to
create an entirely new feature collection based on the shapefile-based one
that is read in but with data bindings of Float instead of Double?

Thanks, any advice would be appreciated.

Steve
