Hi,

is there support in geotools to build a (simple) catalog client? I found the catalog package but it seems to be incomplete, or I missed something?
Talk to justin, he set up someting as a proof of concept of the geoserver + spring idea. The catalog interfaces are a backport of of the uDig catalog, and are focused towards managing data connections/resources.

To pull of a catalog client for real, you do need a bit more - the ability to handle metadata. And you can see the metadata that geotools currently tracks as part of GeoResourceInfo. (This class started in GeoServer, and moved through geotools to udig, and then back to geotools again). I have some great ideas on how to handle metadata for real but have not had the ability (funding or volunteers) to start work on it yet.

If you want we can chat on the next geotools meeting about this, meanwhile http://weblogs.java.net/blog/jive/archive/2005/07/mad_metadata_pl.html
