Hi Paul, Geotools-gt2-users,
I think Paul found this functionality somewhat lacking a while back and made
some code that would probably do what you want. I don't have the details to
give now (versions and actual code), but can chase them up if you want. If this
is wanted code then I'm sure Paul would be happy for it to be folded in, but I
don't know where or how.
Best wishes,
Andy

Subject: [Geotools-gt2-users] Can Geotools add fields to a existed shapefile?
hello, everyone
i have some shapefiles with its siblings .shx, .dbf and .prj, can i use geotool
to add a field to these files?
for example, the shapefile's dbf have three attributes like Population, name
and type, I want to add a customed attribute "weight" to it.
I have check out SHPLIB which is c library, but it can't change the fields
after you create the shapefile. it only can add fields when you create a new
shapefile, but cannot modify an existed one.
anyone knows ? thanks!
