I understand completely; I also am against a deadline .. so here is the 
deal; I will look up the links (if they  exist) and you can send email 
about what worked and did not work for you. :-)

Also note that the wiki pages are not the best place to hunt down code 
examples in a hurry (they only cover a small amount of the library). 
;Grab the source code and look in the test cases for how to do things. 
Rendering is the final section of the core library I need to document; 
and I got tired and busy before getting into the good parts.

So based on your feedback thus far:
- link to the geoserver xml examples of "good" styles
- may it obvious that a parser exists to parse these things

I see how I arrived at this problem; I documented Style and Style Layer 
Descriptor (the xml file format) on different pages so it may of been 
easy to skip over the relationship between the two.
