I liked the idea (although it feels like fighting fire with fire), as such I have written up a proposal for GeoTools to try and publish to the central maven repositories: - http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOTOOLS/Publish+to+Maven+Central+Repository Although the PMC are responsible for voting; comments and feedback on these proposals are more then welcome; and indeed anyone can make a proposal. The trick (as always) is to find or inspire volunteers to do the work - I think a bit bit of research before asking the PMC to vote on the idea.
