Actually what I wrote above did not work too well for some coordinate
systems, this seems to be better
GeographicBoundingBoxImpl bb1 =
new
GeographicBoundingBoxImpl(CRS.getGeographicBoundingBox(crs1));
GeographicBoundingBoxImpl bb2 =
new
GeographicBoundingBoxImpl(CRS.getGeographicBoundingBox(crs2));
bb1.intersect(bb2);
boolean isCompatible = !bb1.isEmpty();
