awards from the Environmental Peacebuilding Association.
The Al-Moumin Award and three newly created awards will be given at our 
inaugural conference this Fall from October 23-25, 2019 at UC Irvine.
Our *deadline for nominations is April 30, 2019 *for the Al-Moumin Award, 
the Environmental Peacebuilding Research Award, and the Award for 
Environmental Peacebuilding in Practice. We will also give an award for the 
Best Student Paper in Environmental Peacebuilding, with a deadline of 
August 20, 2019.

*Al-Moumin Award and Distinguished Lecture on Environmental Peacebuilding*

 

*The award and lecture recognize leading thinkers who are shaping the field 
of environmental peacebuilding, which aims to improve environmental and 
natural resource management to prevent, end, and recover from armed 
conflict. The award and lecture are named after Dr. Mishkat Al-Moumin, 
Iraq’s first Minister of Environment, human rights and environmental 
lawyer, and an advocate for women’s rights.  This will be the 6**th** Award 
(for previous Al-Moumin laureates, see **here*

until April 30, 2019. The nomination should include a description of the 
basis for the nomination, including evidence of impact, and may include 
supporting materials.*

 

*Environmental Peacebuilding Research Award*

 

*The Environmental Peacebuilding Research Award recognizes a recent 
outstanding research contribution that has made a significant impact in the 
field of environmental peacebuilding. Such contributions can include 
impactful books, refereed papers, and research-based reports. The 
contribution must have been copyrighted after 2014. We will accept 
nominations for publications authored by multiple authors, and publications 
in languages other than English.*

 

*The Awards Committee welcomes nominations for Environmental Peacebuilding 
Research Award until April 30, 2019. The nomination should include the 
contribution itself (the paper, report, or access to the book) and provide 
qualitative and/or quantitative evidence of impact. Recipients must have a 
faculty position within an established post-secondary education institution 
or comparable position at a think tank.*

 

*Award for Environmental Peacebuilding in Practice*

 

*The Award for Environmental Peacebuilding in Practice recognizes 
exceptional practical work of an individual or organization involved in 
environmental peacebuilding. This may include, for example, the promotion 
of peace through cooperation around environmental challenges; the 
prevention, assessment, or remediation of environmental impacts from armed 
conflicts; and the management of natural resources to prevent or end 
conflicts.*

 

*The Awards Committee welcomes nominations until April 30, 2019. The 
nomination should include a description of the basis for the nomination, 
including evidence of impact, and may include supporting materials.*

 

*Best Student Paper in Environmental Peacebuilding*

 

*The Best Student Paper in Environmental Peacebuilding recognizes the best 
paper presented by a graduate or undergraduate student at the International 
Conference on Environmental Peacebuilding for that year.*


*Consideration will be given to papers written while the author was 
enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student. Papers may have multiple 
authors, but only papers with exclusively students as authors will be 
considered. Papers presented at panels or at the poster session are 
eligible for consideration.*

 

*The Awards Committee welcomes nominations for this award until August 20, 
2019. The nomination must include the nominated paper in PDF form.*
