Invitation for undergrad and graduate students:

The first International Student Summit on Climate Change will take place from
July 6 to 9, 2020, at Université Laval (Québec City, Canada). It will bring
together some 300 students from across the world.

The summit will be an opportunity to reflect, learn and strategize on student
actions related climate change. We will discuss diverse issues, including
university disinvestment from fossil fuel, climate mainstreaming in university
programs, research communication, student-run NGOs, the design of university
campuses, the expertise needed to address climate change in 2030, access to
green technologies developed by universities, etc.

More importantly, this event will be an opportunity for students to meet other
climate leaders and create a global network to exchange ideas, practices and
expertise. Participants will be invited to joint collaborative projects,
including a student-run journal, a video series and a podcast, to help
structure the network for the years to come.

Registration fees are only $100 CND. Each participant will be granted 5 nights
of accommodations and most meals during the summit will be covered. Some
participants will benefit from additional support to cover their transportation
cost.

Since the summit's objective is to create a network of students, meetings in
person will be an important aspect of this first edition. Most activities will
be highly interactive, including workshops, debates, games, simulations, visits
and competitions. However, students who cannot join us in Québec City will be
able to participate to a number of panels and conferences online. A working
group will be created in order to think of innovative solutions to reduce the
carbon footprint of the second edition, scheduled for 2022. In the meantime,
Université Laval will rely on carbon offsets to make the Summit a carbon
neutral event.

To submit their application, students simply have to send a short video
explaining their motivations. The selection process will be crowdsourced and
each video will be reviewed by 10 other applicants.
