That isn't what we find. With our vet an examination is about five
pounds and is often not charged for. Basic treatment including
examination is about ten pounds. Even major surgery has never cost more
than thirty-five pounds and often less.

We have even had free emergency consultations on a Bank Holiday.

As I have said before. A good vet will be interested in treating
something less mundane than routine jabs for cats and dogs. They will
charge accordingly. I realise that not everyone will have a choice of
vets, but it is worth shopping around *before* an emergency arises.
