In many parts of India, such as Goa, and other parts of Asia where there
is no religious bar on the practise, it is usual for a poor person's
house to be built on stilts with a pig pen underneath. All household
waste (and I mean *all* household waste!) simply goes through a whole in
the floor. After a suitable interval the pig is eaten.
