Also, as you mentioned in a previous post, if you don't assign a monetary
value, the courts won't either. A few years ago, some teenage boys broke
into an animal shelter that sheltered only cats, and beat the cats to death
with baseball bats. I believe there were something like 30 cats. The cats
were in cages and they had been taken out and beaten, and there was just
blood everywhere... I think a few of the cats hadn't quite died, too, which
made it even worse. Just remembering all of that makes me start shaking.
These horrible mutant excuses for human beings could only be charged with
destruction of property, because of the laws in the area where it happened
(Arizona or some such place), and since they were strays, they had no
value. So these obviously sick individuals were only charged with a
misdemeanor, and never spent any time in jail, and never received any
psychiatric treatment. As a matter of fact, when news people did interviews
with people in the community, some of them said, "well, they were just cats."

Anyway, animals are property in this country. In order for them to be
valued, they must be assigned a monetary value. The higher, the better.
