It's about the same with my gerbils..some like it and others don't. I keep
an eye on them and when they start to slow down or sit still a lot, I put
them back.
Sometimes it depends on the mood of the gerbil..they'll run all over one day
and just sit still the next. Some of my boys are obsessed with the ball and
just about go nuts for me to pick them up when they see it. It's kinda cute
to watch them stand on their tip toes and wave their front paws in the air.
As far as how to keep gerbil poo in the ball..I don't think that's
possible..I just sweep the floor when I'm finished. I also rinse the ball
out with water and dry it before putting another gerbil it so their scents
won't mix and cause an argument later with a cagemate.
