Sorry to say, but my little Spike that I was hand-raising didn't make it. )*:
He lived for so long, well what seemed like a long time to me. I'll miss
those early hours of the morning spent feeding the little squirming black
bundle of joy that always got so excited to hear me enter the room. I wish
he would have made it just long enough for him to open his eyes and see his
human mommy, but I guess me cradling him in my hand and nuzzling him while he
took his last few breaths was good enough, he seemed to have gone in peace
without much suffering. He had it rough since the day he was born, being
neglected by his mother and just barely making it through those first few
days. I should be glad he stayed around to bring me happiness for as long as
he did, he was quite an attraction over by me. (:
Ah well.. I guess one lost special gerbil makes up for a new litter of
wonders to fall in love with. Best wishes to all~
