Oh,no, we (i think i can speak for most of us) handle them much, and they are not only
for viewing! But they don't sit still for long, and they are not so suitable for small
children, because they are very fast, and they have they very own will. They like to
run around, and some children get scared when the gerbs climb on them. A small child
could easily drop the gerb, who could be seriuos wounded.
If you don't want a guineapig, i think a hampster would be a better choice for a pet
to a 4 year old.
