Well we just finished dividing 5 aquariums for split tank method
indroductions. Wish us luck... hoo boy wish us luck.
We have the two litters of 6 each in a split 20 gal long. I don't have much
fear that this won't work as they are just babies. When they get to know one
and another we will put the gals in one 20 gal and the guys in another until
such time as we find new homes for them. We have 7 guys and 5 gals. Four of
the gals are black one is agouti. Only one male is black two are agouti and
three are lilacs. So if you want any of these....
We recently received three little darlings from another member on this list.
One Burmese [now named Pasque], one Siamese [Rose], and one Pied Argenti
[Martin].
We are trying Martin with Tess [argenti cream]. Pasque is with one of our
siamese males Tarquin, and Rose is with our other male siamese Tallo. For
the most part they are more interested in exploring their new environments
than who/what is on the other side of the fence. The only one that is
*really* interested in getting to the other side is Tess. A bit of a worry
there as she was the dominate one when she was with our pied agouti Mattie.
The fifth divided tank contains Cottonblossum [lilac] and Cornflower
[agouti], the moms of the two litters previously Mentioned. These two were
together once before so we hope that the re-intro takes.
Our hope is that we can take a male from a litter born to Tess and Martin
and cross it to Mattie. That way the pied gene will be recessive in the
male.
We will keep you updated, as I said wish us lots and lots of luck. :-)
By the way we have a little only pup that does not have much in the way of
fur though she is almost a month old. Is this expected and is there anything
we should be doing for her? Someone on the list did suggest that we try to
foster her to another mother or foster another pup in with her but at the
time this was not possible. She is eating on her own, though I have yet to
catch her drinking at the water bottle.
