Hi again, Just received some gerbil food that I ordered from pets.com, and was really surprised to see the amount of fat listed on the nutritional analysis on the bags. I think it would be a good idea if we could compile a listing of the nutritional data from commonly available commercial food mixes so that we'll have some idea of what we're buying when using the Web or mailorder. If you'd like to help, please e-mail me with any nutritional information you have from the gerbil foods you use. This can usually be found in a table on the back of the packaging. Please include the exact brand and product name as listed on the packaging, the nutritional analysis from the back of the package (usually includes min. crude protein, min. crude fat, max. crude fiber, and max. moisture). Please also use the words "gerbil food" in the subject line of your message so that my e-mail software will file your message in the appropriate place on my computer. I'll compile the information and place it on my website. I'll post the address on the List when there is sufficient useful information there. By the way, the nutritional analysis that sparked this idea is that of Kaytee Supreme Daily Blend Hamster & Gerbil Mix: Crude Protein (min.)... 14.0% Crude Fat (min.)....... 14.0% (Ack!) Crude Fiber (max.)..... 10.0% Moisture (max.)........ 12.0% So needless to say, this particular product will be mixed with a low-fat food mix before my gerbils get to eat it. Regards, Rick
