Hello everyone,
My name is Kara and I am new to the list. I have 2 gerbils, Maggie and Mae.
I have had them for a little over a year and I ran across this mailing list
when I was online looking for toy suggestions. I have come across a problem
that hasn't happened before. First off let me say that the girls live in a
50 gallon aquarium and I use a little concrete cave for a nest box. It has 2
windows and a large door. Anyways, I clean the cage thoroughly at least once
a week and then I change their nesting almost everyday. When I have been
changing it lately it seems to be damp. It doesn't appear to be urine and
their water bottle is at the opposite end of the cage. It is not wet, but is
all very damp and it concerns me that this may make them ill. I have not
changed anything in their cage that I can think that would cause this. This
will probably sound dumb but is it possible for gerbils to sweat? What
should I do if anything? I noticed that Mae was damp and her hair was all
weird. She isn't acting funny and neither is her sister. The baby girls and
I would appreciate any suggestions that you guys can offer :)
