I am interested to hear about people's shipping experiences even though
I chose not to ship a gerbil.

I visited good web sites and many on this list e-mailed me on shipping
methods.
Our post office made me feel uncomfortable shipping a gerbil.
First of all, the United States PS will NOT ship a gerbil (or hamster,
guinea pig, etc.).

I approached them first saying that I'd like to ship a lizard. At
first, they didn't want to ship that. Then they looked through
documents and a handbook and said that they would need a complete
detailed list of all the contents of the container. According to their
rules, the lizard should not require any food or water in the container.
There is also a regulation about the amount of weight the box could
withstand.

There were so many questions, that I didn't feel comfortable lying. I
only wanted to ship a gerbil overnight. (Yes, if I got it to them by
4:00 PM it would arrive at the destination by noon the next day.)

Sadly, but maybe it wasn't, this gerbil went to the pet store. At the
pet store, they told me that they receive animals via UPS. I'm even
more confused. :0

We have another unexpected litter of six gerbils to give away soon, so
I'm up for any new or additional information.
