Dogs have been kept as pets for much longer than gerbils...making them to be
a much more popular pet and I suppose maybe a little more understood. Also,
people probably prefer dogs to gerbils due to the fact that dogs are around
much longer than gerbils are. I, personally, prefer all animals...I
currently have 24 gerbils, 3 dogs, 2 cats, 1 turtle, and 1 fish :o).
