Things I have used for gerbil toys besides the well-known toilet paper/paper
towel roll and egg cartons are fiberboard drink holders from fast food
places (lots of climbing holds and crannies to hide in) and the fiberboard
fillers which stabilize toner cartridges in their shipping boxes
(controversial when mentioned previously because of concern about chemicals
present).
