We are very sorry to hear about your loss. It is common for the other
Gerbil to die soon after losing a long term enclosure partner. Recently two
of my sisters Gerbils died, one after the other in quick succession, after
they had spent their entire lives together.
We would suggest splitting up a breeding pair by putting one of the pups
from the last litter in with each adult. So the male would go with another
young male and the female with another young female. This would help to
offset the effects of the separation.
Once again - we are very sorry to hear about your loss....
