Pup update

The fifth little one that I was worried about is gone.  The remaining four appear to be the four strongest.  When I checked on them mom was sitting on the nest and all of the babies seemed to be feeding with vigor.   I am sorry to see these five little ones pas away, but believe that they were too small and weak to make it.  The sad, but honest truth.   I hope the remaining four will thrive and give mom the experience that she needs.  Perhaps the next litter will be smaller, she will carry to 25 days, or have the experience needed to cope with such a large number of pups.   The children are handling it well.  I simply told them that Shushan was not a bad mother, but that the pups were just too small and weak to survive.     Thank you for listening.  I hope this is the last of the bad news I have to share!  Please take a look at the great graphics and background.  If anyone would like the logo to use for a link to the page let me know.   http://home.maine.rr.com/mountainash/back1.html   Janet and Liz
