hi list members
I just thought I'd let you know the latest on my first litters.  All six pups are doing fine (one grey agouti, one light colourpoint agouti, and four colourpoint slates), they have new homes to go to (family members) when they are ready.

Question: there are three boys and three girls, which means I can split them up into two same sex pairs and a breeding pair.  would it be ok to pair up one of Blanche's girls (light colourpoint agouti.  Aa,cbch,Gg,Pp) with one of Shy's Boys (colourpoint slate.  aa,cbcb,gg), as they share the same father (Bob)?

According to the gene calculator this gives a possibility of eight different coulours for the pups (if you count what would best be described as light pearls (A-,cbch,gg,P-) and light colourpoint slates (aa,cbch,gg,P-) separately (listed as unknown colours))

BTW Shy and Blanche started to vie for dominance just the other day when Blanche decided that now she is a lot bigger than Shy chasing her around was a good idea (I observed no fighting just pushing, and neither Shy or Blanche show any signs of fighting) they seem to have settled this now and are sleeping together etc. just like before) they are currently chewing up the bits of toilet roll Bob delivers to them in the nest box and making a new nest together.  they are both quite gravid and look like they will have their next litters at the same time, I don't want to split them up before they have them as Shy did not seem to produce any milk for her pups, whilst I saw Blanche feeding them all and she was the only one with any signs of producing milk (swollen teats etc). as I think I have mentioned before both Shy and Bob where fully grown when I got them and I have seen Shy looking pregnant a couple of times before Blanche had her first litter, she would just lose weight over night but there would be no sign of any pups. (indeed I was told that both Bob and Shy where boys as the previous owner had never had any pups from them)....any ideas?

p.s. (I know... I'll shut up in a minute) I'm moving them into a 48x18x12 tank today, and separating the pups (four and five weeks old) so I'll have a spare tank when the pups have gone.
