First of all, you might be reinfesting fresh food. Use
up or throw out all that you have.
If you are worried about bugs, put your food in large
ziplock baggies (buy freezer thickness ones, either
quart or gallon) or sealable tupperware or rubbermaid
containers...and freeze it. A week at 0F (-10C) will kill
any bug infestation. Then you can remove the container
and feed from it. Keep the container sealed when
you are not removing food for feeding, and that
should fix the problem.
And go to weekly cage cleaning. Uneaten food can
harbor stuff, and cleaning it up helps.
Plus, before bringing any food home, inspect it for bugs
first. Sometimes it is infested before you get it, and don't
take it home if it is.
