The idea of a dust bath is that the animal gets the dust into the fur
where it will help absorb excess oils etc, and then it grooms the dust
out. Leave your gerbils for ten minutes and they should look
particularly beautiful.
At shows it is usual to dust bath immediately before the gerbils are
entered in the show. That way, by the time the judge gets to them they
have groomed out the dust and their coat is in perfect condition.
