Not that I'm much of an expert..but maybe it's some type of desert opossum??
Just a guess since they use their ears independently of each other and use
their tails for gripping.  Plus the shape of the head is sort of like one,
but I think opossums have longer noses if I'm not mistaken.  Julian..have
other experts looked at this animal and what do they think?  How does a
person go about figuring out or classifying new species??  Just curious :)
