I have taken a look at the pictures of this mysterious 'gerbil', but I
can't figure it out, either. From what you decribe, it really doesn't sound
like gerbil behaviour (more Meriones), but it does look like it. Fred
thinks it IS a gerbil, however. And he has seen far more Gerbillus species
than I have.
