Dog biscuits are a good source of additional protein for pregnant or
nursing mothers. The current mother gerbil I have loves them as does her
mate and her now solid-food-eating children! I give them the milkbone small
size variety flavor biscuits.

> Give your gerbils chunks of apple or pear tree wood (peeled
> branch chunks at least an inch in diameter and four long) or
> white pine (I give dimensional lumber leftovers, 2x4 chunks
> about 3-4 inches long...with no paint or pressure treating,
> plain common lumber pieces with the splinters removed)
