I had my first gerbil "escape"; actually my 15 1/2 year old cat who's
been perfectly content just to look for the past year apparently took
the cover of the tank off. I have a 10 gallon tank with a tough guard
top and two clips.
Most fortunately, my young daughter got up at 3:00 am for a drink, saw
the open tank, and come running to me. Megan and Janie (the grown
daughters) were in the tank. Cara (the mom) was gone. Mandy (the cat)
was sitting in front of the tank. Seeing no sign of her, I took a feel
into the nearby linen closet and immediately felt her press against the
back corner. Whew!
So my question is -- any tips for cat proofing? (I am wondering if the
clips weren't secure?) But just in case have moved up to four clips and
masking tape.
