I've heard mention using gloves to separate gerbils
who are fighting ( I haven't had this problem yet,
thank Heavens but doesn't hurt to be ready, eh?) and I
wondered what kind of gloves woul work? would regular
garden gloves work okay? I need to know so I can get
a pair when I pick up the new cages in case the boys
decide they don't like each other.

what I am planning on is this:

The ones from the first litter will be nine weeks old
three days before the second litter is 4 weeks old.
I'm hoping, that week, to take the boys out (4 wks)
and put them in a neutral area and start with the
younger male gerbil (10 weeks). Provided that no
fights break out among them, I'll add the older male
after watchting them for a few hours. If they get
along okay, that fine, but if there's any fighting I'm
just gonna leave the three younger boys together.

Then I get to work with the girls. I wouldn't even
try separating them except that the person I'm giving
a pair to wants one dove and one argente cream. of
course, if the grils don't get along . . . she'll just
have to take the dove girls together. *shrug*

do I need to do a split cage with a 4 week and 9 week
old? I've only got one divider for a 10 gal tank, and
I don't know that I'll be able to get another one
within the next few weeks.

thanks for any advice.
RW
