Lisa,
First, this forum is no place for your personal attack on Donna. Many of us
know and respect her. She has proven her knowledge and concern for gerbils
by serving on the AGS board.
I have gone through the past few posts and did not find where she had told
you to watch your gerbils 24x7. What she said, is what many have been
feeling, your gerbils do not seem to have a good temperament for breeding.
You stated that you are now breeding the daughters of Kateela. She had
major problems, and never successfully reared an entire litter. Her pups
will have learnt their mothering skills from her, and they are poor at best.
If you really want to breed successfully; listen carefully to all the advise
you have been given.
1) Stop breeding all of your current gerbils.
2) Purchase a new pair,
3) preferable ones that have had one or two successful litters. (I had one
litter that had a very high number of pup deaths. After the third fatal
litter I stopped breeding them.) You will save yourself, your gerbils, and
list members a lot of heart ache!
