I have yet to have a gerbil, no matter how tame, be willing to be sexed. In
the gerbil world, tame means more that they don't bite and are not
aggressive with you- not necessarily that they are easy to catch and enjoy
being petted.
If you feel that she is used to your hand and is not threatened by it, I
suggest cupping your hand and scooping her up. Don't lift her very high
right away- increase gradually 'til you are holding her out of the tank.
Once you can do this, take the base of her tail and lift her rear and have
a look. I'm pretty sure Julian's pages have a good photo of what each sex
should look like so you can compare.
