Cloth has threads and fibers that can wrap around limbs
and amputate them, around necks and choke, and if ingested,
causes painful and deadly intestinal blockages. Part of the
thread can lodge in one part, the other try to continue down
the intestinal passage, and it literally saws their insides
apart! Or, just blocks the passage totally.
Never EVER give your gerbils cloth. Nothing may have
happened so far, but it's just a ticking time bomb, that is
waiting to happen. You will be unlucky eventually, your
gerbils will be badly hurt or dead, and it is so easily
avoidable!
Give them unscented undyed toilet tissue if you want to
give them bedding. It is soft enough and it will be warm
enough for them, if you give them enough, to make a nice
nest.
