In my area the vet usually only charges around $5-8 for euthanasia of a small rodent. We had to have it done once, several years ago, so prices may have gone up since. And even though this is more than a new gerbil would cost, I can't imagine doing the euthanasia myself. I know it's probably silly of me, but it would feel like the betrayal of a trusting friend. It's hard enough as it is. Now, I only wish the vets would charge a little less for surgery on rodents. We are looking at 2 scent gland removals within the next 10 days, and I just *know* that many people would or could never pay this.
