Any Breeders near New York City?

I am still making preparations for becoming a gerbil owner.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any breeders near me in New York City.

I was wondering about the breeding.  If you keep males and females separated
and you are not supposed to introduce new gerbils to established groups, how
do you handle the mating process - just put a male and female together?  I
assume if she is in heat they will be happy to see each other.  How long do
you need to keep them together.
