I am not trying to extend this topic, but as a
relatively inexperienced gerbil lover, I have questions about water.
Previously, I have to admit I was pretty sloppy about the water bottle in
my girls' cage (which is a SAM canteen that has never given me a
moment's grief, despite other's experience with the product). I changed it
only about once a week even though I knew it should be once a day. Even in
a week, the water level always was down only a very little. I think it
would take them a couple of months to drink it dry. How much water should
they be getting? Do I need to worry? (and pleas don't think that I
don't care for and check the girls just because I am somewhat careless about the
water bottle! I actually check its tip daily to make sure water will
come out).
