My sweet gerbil Percil, having recovered from his mummy (me)'s scent gland panic of last night, woke up with one eye that is really red (well, he HAS red eyes.. I mean around the eye) his gray/white fur is all red-stained and he is scratching his eye.  I took him out to wash the eye out, but he was waay more interested in eating the damp eye-washing kleenex than complaining about his eye.
I checked on him awhile later, and the eye looked fine.

My question:

Why do gerbils get red eye goup?  I have noticed in all my gerbies over the years that eye goup is always red.  why?

Whay coiuld this be?  Could his true love Kippy have donesomething to him?  She seemed concerned when I was watching..

ALSO, one of my friends was over visiting, and she held the gerbil, and she had a contageous sty in her eye.  Ew.  I WAS NOT pleased when I found that out, I don't want a sty.  But could the gerbil get one?

So many questions :)

Thanks :)
