thanks a lot for answering my question but i
have another one.

can you give me some brand-names of Aspen shavings because i donīt know if i
can find the right thing.

day
Claudia
Hi Claudia
I don't think aspen shavings are available in the UK,
Claudia. I've never seen them in all my years of rodent keeping.
However, you should be perfectly OK with standard wood shavings from your pet
shop. In the UK, the "pine" you get is actually spruce and that does not
have the same allergic resins as the North American pine. If you are
prepared to pay more, you can also get Biocatalet. This is a paper-based
cat litter which is also ideal for rodents. I use this as it is less
dusty than wood shavings and my animals are all in my living room.
However, the benefit is really for me, not the gerbils. As I just said
wood shavings in the UK are fine. One word of warning, you occasionally
see cedar shavings in pet shops. They cost more than ordinary shavings
and will be labelled cedar and are red in colour. These are very bad for
allergies. They may smell nice but avoid them at all cost.
Cheers
Sue
